The Diva Dolls are BAAACCK!! Well at least for a weekend! This weekend I had the pleasure of planning an epic Girls Getaway in Dallas for my favorite girl pals! It’s been ten years since Chilaeya, LaToya, and I have seen each other.  We are the trio formerly known as the Diva Dolls. The Diva Dolls took Omaha, Nebraska by storm when we founded Diva, Dolls LLC in the late 2000s.

Diva Dolls was a company that was dedicated to the empowerment of women, through scholastics, self-improvement and community engagement. Together we advocated bringing awareness to available resources and programs for breast cancer in the African American Community through a partnership with the local American Cancer Society Chapter. Our most prized achievement was creating a scholarship program, Knowledge is Power, where we awarded annual scholarships to local collegiate women. Let me tell you, we were a force to be reckoned with!

But as in life, the only thing constant is change, and eventually, the infamous trio parted ways. Each relocating to different states with aspirations of career expansion. So when LaToya reached out to me a few weeks back and said she wanted to come to Dallas for a much needed weekend getaway, I was ecstatic!  If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s planning an epic get together! And with Chilaeya now living only four hours away we decided it was now or never to plan a Diva Dolls Reunion!

In search of a modern, yet relaxing space to retreat, that would also provide us with ease of access to restaurants, and entertainment, I knew just the spot! Over the past few years, I’ve grown increasingly fond of the NYLO Las Colinas Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.  From romantic getaways to relaxing staycations I turn to the NYLO. So it was the obvious choice for this weekend’s Girls Getaway! But this time, I decided to turn it up a notch by booking a King Balcony Suite. The king suite is a spacious 600 sq ft loft-style suite featuring a private balcony, separate living space, and a bedroom. The separate living space provided room to chat, relax, and hang out! And with the weather being absolutely amazing, we were able to take full advantage of the private balcony space.

As I was searching for “things to do in Dallas”, I stumbled across this awesome gem called Rainbow Vomit, an immersive art and selfie studio. The installations include over 6000 LEDs, 100 pounds of cotton, 25 pounds of glitter, 5 miles of ribbon and 1 secret unicorn…shhhhhh!  If you’re a lover of creative art, or you just love taking fabulous photos in amazing spaces, Rainbow Vomit is the place to be! Get ready to transform your Instagram with the coolest photos ever!

The girls and I  got tickets for the 8:30 pm viewing on Saturday. Dressed in the ugly prom dresses we thrifted earlier in the day, we showed up ready for a camera phone photo shoot, and let’s just say, Rainbow Vomit did not disappoint!  From the moment we walked through the doors we were blown away. Deanna Theis, the creative mastermind behind Rainbow Vomit is the sweetest person you ever would want to meet! I just overlove her! Not only did she come to the rescue when I had a wardrobe malfunction (let’s just say every girl should have double-sided tape in her bag..IJS), she also allowed us to have extra time after our tour ended to snap some extra shots!

We ended our weekend with a  mindfulness exercise which helped us prepare our minds to write our personal ” Bill of Rights” inspired by Self Ceremony. Your personal “Bill of Rights” are the things that represent what you stand for as a person, your boundaries, and desires. These are the things that make you unequivocally you, and that you need to protect from the outside world. I provided blank canvases found at  Target and paint pens found on  Amazon for this exercise. Our suite at the NYLO was perfect, and so was this weekend!nylo17

Are you planning a Girls Weekend or Retreat? Would you be interested in attending a Girls Retreat? Well, stay tuned you never know when the next Diva Dolls might just pop up in a city near you!
