Guess who’s excited to be attending the 10 year anniversary of the Texas Women’s Empowerment Conference (TWEC), in Dallas Texas, a two-day event attended by young girls and women throughout the state of Texas and beyond this weekend??! Me! ME! MEEEEE!
But I’m most excited to be this years teen girls speaker for the conference! On Friday night I will be hosting a Pretty Little Thing Pajama Party for girls ages 13-17. And on Saturday, we’ll link up again for my Talk Pretty to Me Workshop. When I tell you that this weekend is going to be tons of fun * throws glitter in the air*… I’m literally giddy with excitement!
I don’t know about you, but I remember my teenage years, there were fun times and not so fun times. I remember muttering under my breath on so many different occasions, just how much my parents couldn’t possibly understand my life, let alone what it felt like to be a teenager, like really, really. But times have totally changed and if I was thinking my parents didn’t understand then, I can only IMAGINE how the kids AND the parents these days are feeling!
At the Pretty Little Thing Pajama Party, the girls and I will get to know each other on a more intimate level, we’ll relax, share stories, eat snacks and of course do all of the cool things you’d expect to do at a Pajama PAR-TAY!! I’m a firm believer in meeting our youth where they are. Not always talking at them, but with them in an effort to build a relationship that allows them to be comfortable being themselves, and sharing their stories. Because believe it or not, every teen has one. And it’s important that they learn how the things they think about themselves today, have the ability to affect them even into adulthood.
In the interactive Talk Pretty to Me Workshop, we will discuss Purpose, Influence, and the importance of looking back to help younger girls aka. your little sisters in Christ. Lets face it, in a culture of endless voices ready to shape our young girls, we have an obligation to make sure that our girls are ready to face the world. To ensure that they are equipped with the proper knowledge spiritually and worldly to survive this chaotic thing called LIFE! So come one, come ALL and lets have some FUN!
And remember If you’re not influencing your daughter(s) spiritually, WHO is? Everyone has influence. Teach her how to Protect Her Pretty, or someone else will, and it just may not end up so Pretty. Lets give our girls the Godfidence they need to not only survive, but thrive!
For those of you who are registered to attend this AH-MAZING spirit led- fun filled weekend… See Ya Soon!
